Social and Recreational Hub for Saddleback
Castle Hill Partners has started construction on the $10 million Basecamp amenity center at its Saddleback master-planned community in Peoria. The 16-acre destination is scheduled to open in summer 2027. Basecamp will combine indoor and outdoor gathering areas designed to complement the surrounding Sonoran Desert. Low-profile architecture, shaded retreats and desert landscaping will connect the development with its natural surroundings. A resort-style pool will anchor the outdoor recreation area, along with shaded lounges, courtyards and a splash pad.
Basecamp will offer a wide range of resort-style amenities designed to encourage recreation, wellness, and social connection. Plans include a 10,000-square-foot event lawn, outdoor lounges, games, grilling areas and space for food trucks. Active amenities will include a quarter-mile bike pump track, bike barn and outfitter, climbing boulder and 200-step fitness challenge. The development will also provide dedicated space for organized fitness and wellness programs. Collaborative Design Studio leads the architecture, RVi handles landscape design and Primak Construction Group serves as general contractor.
Castle Hill Partners, an Austin-based developer, is developing Saddleback about 40 miles northwest of downtown Phoenix and five miles from Lake Pleasant. The community sits near major employment centers, including TSMC Arizona, the BNSF industrial development and Amkor’s planned facility. Saddleback will emphasize outdoor living with more than 60 miles of trails, including the 13-mile Saddleback Trail. Taylor Morrison has already opened model homes, while Lennar plans to open models soon. Saddleback expects to welcome its first residents this fall.
At full buildout, Saddleback plans approximately 6,500 single-family homes, multifamily residences, resort-style amenities and a resort. The community will appeal to homebuyers seeking spacious living, low-maintenance designs, and a high-end lifestyle in one of the region’s fastest-growing residential markets. Basecamp will serve as a central gathering place as the community continues to grow.
