Landmark U.S. Semiconductor Packaging Facility

Amkor Technology, Inc. and the City of Peoria marked a major milestone in U.S. semiconductor manufacturing. They broke ground on a new, state-of-the-art semiconductor packaging and test facility. The $7 billion project is a significant investment aimed at strengthening America’s supply chain security. It will also fuel high-tech growth and innovation for Metro Phoenix.

In December 2023, Amkor unveiled its intent on developing a $2 billion facility in Peoria, with 2,000 jobs, built on approximately 55 acres of land.

On Monday, Oct. 6, Amkor Technology, Inc. celebrated a major advancement in American semiconductor manufacturing with the groundbreaking of its cutting-edge semiconductor packaging and test facility in Peoria, Arizona. This $7 billion project, backed by the Trump Administration, Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs, Peoria Mayor Jason Beck, and the City of Peoria, represents a pivotal investment in strengthening U.S. supply chain security while driving high-tech growth in the region.

Driving U.S. Manufacturing Leadership and Innovation

Spanning over 750,000 square feet of cleanroom manufacturing space built in two phases, the new Peoria campus is on track to become the largest and most advanced outsourced semiconductor packaging plant in the United States. The facility will create up to 3,000 skilled jobs in engineering, operations, and advanced manufacturing, reinforcing Amkor’s commitment to fostering talent and boosting domestic production capabilities.

Through its expertise in innovative packaging technologies—including wafer-level and system-in-package solutions—Amkor enables critical applications in automotive, communications, high-performance computing, and artificial intelligence markets. This facility will play a strategic role in expanding U.S. leadership across these high-growth sectors and accelerating technology advancement across the semiconductor ecosystem.
