Shifting Manufacturing to Phoenix
AIRO Group has relocated Aspen Avionics‘ manufacturing operations to its facility at Phoenix Deer Valley Airport. Aspen Avionics, founded in Albuquerque, New Mexico, consolidated its manufacturing into the Phoenix location after AIRO acquired the company in 2020. The facility recently earned AS9100D quality management certification.
The 38,000-square-foot Phoenix facility manufactures Aspen Evolution flight displays and supports AIRO’s drone production, electronics manufacturing and composite fabrication operations.
Airo Group’s Aspen Avionics manufacturing operations has been moved to its Phoenix Deer Valley Airport (KDVT) facility. Aspen was founded in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and following Airo’s purchase of the avionics manufacturer in 2020 the manufacturing operations have been consolidated into a single facility in Phoenix, which recently earned AS9100D quality system certification.
The 38,000-sq-ft Phoenix operation also supports Airo’s drone manufacturing, electronics, and composite fabrication operations, in addition to manufacturing Aspen Evolution flight displays. This week at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh, Aspen is offering 10% off any MFD MAX display when purchased with the company’s new engine instrument software.
Expected to be certified shortly, the engine instrument software upgrade costs $995 and was developed in partnership with Electronics International. Buyers of the upgrade will need to purchase the EDS-33P engine data converter and sensors from Electronics International to complete the upgrade.
Aspen Avionics has also branched into other product lines, including electronics for Airo’s drones and GPS/GNSS sensors for customers such as start-up eVTOL manufacturer Joby Aviation.
“Aspen is becoming an important part of the foundation of Airo,” said Airo Group COO John Uczekaj. “Electronics International is the first instantiation of our broader [efforts] working with engine instruments. We’re opening up and working with everybody we can work with and providing choices for our customers.
“If we stop giving choices, innovations stop. The avionics industry is in danger of doing that again. Eventually innovation overcomes economic protection. If you don’t have competition, you don’t have innovation.”

About Aspen Avionics
Founded in 2004 by pilots, Aspen Avionics develops advanced cockpit technology that makes modern avionics more accessible and affordable for general aviation. Its award-winning flight displays improve situational awareness, reduce pilot workload and enhance safety in both VFR and IFR conditions while fitting easily into existing aircraft panels.
Aspen’s Evolution Flight Display System transformed the general aviation glass cockpit by allowing aircraft owners to upgrade at their own pace. The company continues to expand its product lineup with the Evolution MAX series, integrated engine monitoring and advanced connectivity solutions. Now part of AIRO Group Holdings, Aspen Avionics strengthens the company’s aerospace, autonomy and advanced air mobility portfolio.
