Metro Phoenix Coffee Co Wins Regional Gold

Moxie Coffee Co. is located in the City of Phoenix. The specialty coffee micro roaster won a gold medal in the U.S. and Canada division at the inaugural Global Coffee Awards. The winning coffee, Letty Bermudez, was awarded Best Filter Coffee (Experimental Process). It’s produced by Diego Bermudez in Cauca, Colombia, using a double anaerobic tropical yeast fermentation. The specialty flavor honors Bermudez’s daughter and is sold at Moxie’s Phoenix shop location and online. Founded in 2021 by Matt Heltzel, Moxie credits the award to its focus on quality and producer relationships.

Moxie Coffee Co., a specialty coffee micro roaster in central Phoenix, won a gold medal in the U.S. and Canada division at the inaugural Global Coffee Awards in Houston.

Moxie’s award-winning coffee, Letty Bermudez, was named best in the Filter Coffee (Experimental Process) category. It’s produced by Diego Bermudez in Cauca, Colombia, using a double anaerobic tropical yeast fermentation.

Named for Bermudez’s daughter, the coffee features notes of peach blossom, yellow fruit, and oolong tea. Moxie sells it in 8-ounce bags at its Phoenix shop and on its website.

‘‘This award reflects our entire team’s commitment to quality and cultivating long term relationships with incredible coffee producers like Diego Bermudez,’’ says Matt Heltzel, who launched Moxie in 2021.

Moxie advances to the Global Finals, held in El Salvador in March, to compete against the winners of the Europe and Origins divisions for the title of World’s Best Roaster.
