The San Manuel Investment Authority (SMIA), an investment entity of the Yuhaaviatam of San Manuel Nation, has acquired the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess in Scottsdale. The 65-acre resort features 750 guest rooms and suites, a 44,000-square-foot Well & Being Spa, six pools, five dining and beverage venues, and eight retail stores. The acclaimed resort has maintained AAA Five Diamond status since 1991 and received the AAA Timeless Diamond designation in 2025. Condé Nast Traveler has also ranked it among the “Top Resorts in the Southwest” for three consecutive years. The property sits next to TPC Scottsdale, home of the PGA Tour’s WM Phoenix Open.

San Manuel Investment Authority (SMIA), an unincorporated governmental instrumentality of Yuhaaviatam of San Manuel Nation (Nation), through its affiliated entities, announced today its acquisition of Fairmont Scottsdale Princess in Scottsdale, Arizona.

“We are delighted to welcome the staff and guests of Fairmont Scottsdale Princess into the portfolio of luxury non-gaming properties owned by our Tribe,” said Lynn Valbuena, Chairwoman of the San Manuel Investment Board and Chairwoman of Yuhaaviatam of San Manuel Nation.

A winner of numerous accolades and awards in the travel, hospitality and golf categories, the Princess received the AAA Timeless Diamond designation in 2025 for maintaining Five Diamond status since 1991. The resort has also been recognized as one of Condé Nast Traveler’s Readers’ Choice Awards “Top Resorts in the Southwest” for the past three consecutive years.

Set on 65 acres in the Sonoran Desert, the resort features 750 guest rooms and suites, including the exclusive Privado Villas; the 44,000-square-foot full-service Well & Being Spa and Arizona’s only Sisley Spa; six pools; five food and beverage outlets, including signature restaurants from renowned chefs Richard Sandoval and Michael Mina; and eight retail stores. The resort is adjacent to TPC Scottdale, home of the PGA Tour’s WM Phoenix Open.

Additionally, the Princess hosts numerous special events that are popular with locals and visitors alike, including the summer’s Freedom Fest and the beloved Christmas at the Princess holiday festival.

According to @azcommerce, a delegation of more than 30 Arizona legislative, business and economic development leaders completed a four-day trade mission to Ireland. The visit focused on expanding partnerships in high-tech industries, research, innovation and workforce development. Arizona and Ireland share strengths in semiconductors, medical technology, artificial intelligence, quantum technology, pharmaceuticals and clean energy. Trade between Arizona and Ireland exceeded $850 million in 2025.

The delegation met with officials from the U.S. Embassy in Dublin, Ireland’s Department of Foreign Affairs and IDA Ireland. Members also visited Dublin City University and Trinity College Dublin to discuss research and workforce partnerships. At Intel Ireland, the group toured a campus that employs nearly 5,000 people and includes Fab 34, Europe’s first high-volume semiconductor facility to use Extreme Ultraviolet (EUV) lithography. Intel’s Fab 52 in Chandler also uses EUV technology and will manufacture Intel 18A chips, highlighting the semiconductor connections between Arizona and Ireland.

Additional visits included the Guinness Enterprise Centre, Enterprise Ireland and a roundtable hosted by the American Chamber of Commerce Ireland. Cyclic Materials opened its first commercial-scale rare earth magnet recycling facility in @cityofmesa, strengthening the domestic supply of rare earth elements and critical minerals. The company invested more than $30 million in the 144,000-square-foot facility, which will initially create more than 25 jobs. The plant can process up to 25,000 metric tons of end-of-life products containing magnets each year. Cyclic Materials will recover rare earth magnet concentrate through its Mag-Xtract™ process, along with critical materials such as copper, aluminum and steel. Tempe-based Dutch Bros Coffee plans to acquire 51 former Salad and Go locations after the fast-casual chain filed for bankruptcy, with the ongoing cyclosporiasis outbreak contributing to its collapse. Salad and Go filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection Monday and announced it will permanently close all of its locations, serving its final meals Wednesday. The Gilbert-founded drive-thru restaurant chain submitted voluntary bankruptcy petitions in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas in Houston.

The company said declining consumer demand, rapid expansion challenges, and rising operating costs made its business unsustainable.
