16,000 SF FaaS Model

Homebuilder D.R. Horton has signed a multiyear agreement with Promise Robotics to support construction of more than 1,250 homes using artificial intelligence and robotic manufacturing. Promise Robotics plans to launch production in early 2027 at a Metro Phoenix facility. According to the Phoenix Business Journal, the company has secured a 16,000-square-foot building in Gilbert. However, Promise Robotics has not disclosed its investment amount or expected workforce size.

The agreement makes D.R. Horton the first major U.S. homebuilder to adopt Promise Robotics’ integrated production platform, according to an October 13 announcement. The company’s Factory-as-a-Service (FaaS) model allows builders to use automated manufacturing without owning or managing factories. The technology converts existing home designs into production plans and robotic instructions. It also coordinates factory production with onsite installation.

D.R. Horton expects the partnership to accelerate construction schedules, increase production capacity, and improve operational efficiency. Meanwhile, Promise Robotics is recruiting a plant manager to hire, train, and oversee employees. The job posting also indicates that the Gilbert facility will support multiple homebuilders.
