Award for Business Development
The City of Mesa Office of Economic Development earned a 2026 Excellence in Economic Development Silver Award from the International Economic Development Council (IEDC). The organization recognized Mesa’s AI-Enabled Economic Development Intelligence System in the Innovative Economic Development category. The system guides how Mesa uses AI for research, analysis and business development. It establishes standards for authoritative sourcing, confidence levels and human review. Staff use the technology for market analysis, site-selection research, briefings, and responses to business prospects.
The AI system has also helped Mesa provide companies with data more efficiently. IEDC recognized the initiative for advancing economic development through responsible technology. Mesa OED will receive the award during the IEDC 2026 Annual Conference in New Orleans from October 25-28.
