Coastal Asian Cuisine
Starfish Scottsdale is the first Arizona location from Orange County-based Starfish Hospitality Group. The dining concept is coastal Asian cuisine. The announced opening is May 5. Soft openings will run May 1–4. The restaurant is located at 8390 E. Vía de Ventura (northwest corner of Hayden and Via de Ventura) at McCormick Ranch in Scottsdale.
Husband-and-wife team Archie and Gretchen McConnell founded the brand in 2011. They built a strong Southern California following with locations in Laguna Beach and Newport Beach.
Starfish Scottsdale, the first Arizona outpost of Orange County, Calif.-based Starfish Hospitality Group, will open May 5 – with soft-opening reservations available May 1-4.
It takes over the space formerly home to Mexican restaurants Agave del Scottsdale and then, briefly, Okay Maguey on the northwest corner of Hayden and Via de Ventura.
Founded in 2011 by husband-and-wife team Gretchen and Archie McConnell, Starfish has built a following in California with locations in Laguna Beach and Newport Beach.
The concept centers on coastal Asian cuisine – think dishes inspired by Thailand, Korea, Vietnam, China, and Japan – with a menu of more than 70 shareable plates.
Standouts include the Lobster Macadamia Roll, Braised BBQ Pork Buns, and Candy Dragon Prawns.
The 5,200-square-foot space will feature 90 seats on a lush, tropical-themed patio alongside a redesigned interior outfitted with custom artwork and booth work meant to evoke Southeast Asian coastal living.
