PHOENIX — HonorHealth will open a 40,000-square-foot medical fitness center in north Scottsdale this August.

It will be part of the new HonorHealth Pima Center, a 100,000-square-foot facility located near Loop 101 at Pima Road.

The campus broke ground in December 2022 and will house sports medicine, physical therapy, orthopedics, cardiology, spine and pain care services.

Unlike a traditional gym, the HonorHealth Medical Fitness will offer physician-guided programs aimed at preventing and treating lifestyle-related diseases through exercise, nutrition and health education, the organization said.

Programs will be clinically integrated with HonorHealth’s rehabilitation and specialty care teams.

Additionally, staff will hold degrees in exercise science, nutrition or related fields, according to HonorHealth medical director Dr. David Carfagno.

“HonorHealth Medical Fitness is more than a gym membership, it’s a partnership in health,” Carfagno said in a Wednesday news release. “Every program will be guided by medical oversight.”

Beyond the traditional gym equipment, the facility will include group exercise classes, an indoor track, heated lap and therapy pools, sauna and pickleball courts. Outdoor turf, a kids club and family nights will also be offered.
